For the Love of Peas and Monkeys

I shall return. June 30, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day — Jesse @ 8:21 am

Just thought I would let y’all know that after today I will not be on the computer until next Friday.  I’ll be off to camp and I’m relly looking forward to it because I know it’s going to be a lot of fun.  However, I know I’m going to missing my kids and of course David.  Sweet Pea came home last night and man was she happy to see us, and I of course was happy to see her.  Man did I miss her; and I’m a little sad about me going to camp only because I leave Monday and I only have a couple of days before I go.  Luckily for me there are these 3 funny girls who always make me laugh and I know they will help keep my mind off of home-ok not really but at least they’ll make me laugh and that will make the week go by faster.  Oh and tonight is date night for me and David and we are going to this Italian restaurant and then we’re going to see “Live Free, Die Hard.”  I let you know how it goes.  Anyways I hope all of you have a great weekend and a fun and safe 4th of July.  Oh and I thought I would share something with y’all too before I leave.  Fox News was talking about a 15 yr. old girl who posted a video on youtube and I think it’s perfect and something we should reflect on with the 4th of July coming up. :)

Another Chunky Monkey First June 29, 2007

“Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?”Batman

Well I finally did it, I gave my little Monkey his first haircut.  It was time for him to get a trim, the sides and the back were a little long, and the front needed a trim.  And OMG I can’t believe home much his look has changed.  Before he looked like my little baby and now he looks like a little boy, oh how I miss the baby look.  And he was so good while she was cutting his hair, wide-eyed and curious to what she was doing.  I was sad and a part of me wanted to cry but I held on and didn’t let the flood gates flow.  Oh and have I mentioned that in the past couple of weeks he has had 3 molars cut thru.  Seriously y’all I’m not ready for my baby to grow up and become a little man-this is probably why I want another baby but that will have to wait.

Oh and if I forget Monday I will be out of town I’m going to youth camp and I will return on Friday.  So there will be no posts since there will be no computers-ahhh what am I going to do.  Not only that but David will be home with both of the kids so be praying for me and I’m sure he’ll have some funny story to tell me that I will surely tell you.  Have a great weekend.

“Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?”

“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”-Dodge Ball

First off let me just say that I missed talking to all of you-seriously.  The weather has been kind of bad out here and our service was well temporairly interrupted, but thankfully this morning I’m back up and running and extremely happy.  I can’t tell you how hard it’s been not being able to use my computer-I know sad.  I guess because I didn’t realize how many things I use it for until I can’t use it at all.  Oh and the worse part is that everytime I would walk past it, it was almost like it was laughing saying “ha, ha, ha, you can’t use the internet and I get a break.”  Well no more breaks because I’m back and I have a lot of reading to catch up on in bloggy world.

As for my week it’s been really good-again minus computer.  Sweet Pea is still with my sister and she hasn’t once asked to come home.  I’m glad she’s having a good time but I’m also glad she’s coming home tomorrow.  As for me and my Chunky Monkey well we’ve been having fun just hanging out and playing.  I think for the most part he’s enjoyed having me all to himself, and I don’t blame him, I’ve enjoyed spending one-on-one time with him.

So what else have I been doing these past couple of days, well for one not going anywhere because it’s been raining like mad crazy out here this week.  Oh but not today, today it’s beautiful but it’s really hot outside.  Ok so while he was taking a nap the other day I was bored and nothing good was on t.v. so I decided to play one of David’s video games.  Now I  haven’t played video games in forever-but I decided to try and play one anyway.  Plus David wasn’t home and couldn’t “help out” and I was able to figure most of it out myself.  And now I’m hooked and the game I’m hooked on is Kingdom Hearts on Playstation 2.

Now on to some really cool news.  Burg  has nominated me for this sweet little award that I get to post in my sidebar and I even get the chance to nominate some other really rockin chicks that I read on a daily basis.  Can you tell that I’m excited-I can’t help it.  Call me a dork if you want but I haven’t been nominated for anything in the blogosphere and I feel honored.  And Burg I love your blog and all the stories you tell of your in-laws; it’s nice to know that there are other people who have crazy families.  Because there are times when I think my family would be perfect for a show like Maury Povich or Jerry Springer.

Now on to my picks of chicks that really rock:

Tracy-From the first time I read her blog I was hooked.  I love how she tells her stories of being a mom and everything else that follows.  Oh and love her posts on celeb guys and girls that are hot, because really folks we all do a little daydreaming but she’s not afraid to post about it.

Catwoman-Now this crazy girl is guarenteed to give you a good laugh.  She talks about anything and everything, and I mean everything.
Chris-She always has some interesting posts and just fun stuff to read about-like the one about a device that helps woman pee standing up.

MGM-Even though I feel sorry for her because of her crazy neighbors it’s still funny to read about some of the things that happen.

But the one thing I should say about all these women and the many of blogs I read is that I really love their stories about their children and ups and downs of motherhood.  There are times when I need a pick-me-up from the day to day and these women always give me a good laugh and good advice.  The way they tell their stories about their children is precious and priceless.  So thank you ladies for always making my day a little better.  *This also goes out to all the other blogs that I read everyday, and the ones listed on my sidebar.  Seriously y’all are what make blogging for me so much fun.*  Speaking of my sidebar I need to add a few more blogs, so I’m off but I will be back sometime today and if not definetly tomorrow. :)

Favorite Baby Items June 25, 2007

“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

What was your favorite baby item that you could not live without?

I remember how much fun but exhausting it was making sure we had everything we needed before Sweet Pea was born.  I mean the list of what babies need can be overwhelming, however, I had so much fun shopping for each of them that it was well worth it.  What can I say I loooove to shop, and really what girl doesn’t.  Now for my list:

Boudreaux Butt Paste- This stuff is just awesome and if you’ve never tried it then you really should.  I mean this stuff will clear a diaper rash in no time.

Boppy Pillow-Even though I had trouble breastfeeding this pillow was still very useful.  It helped with them sitting up, laying on their stomachs and of course feedings.

Since I wasn’t able to breastfeed I found these bottles to be the best and I used them for both of my kiddos-loved them.

Ahh yes who can forget the binkies.  For me they were a godsend and I feel for the moms whose babies won’t take them.  Sweet Pea loved her binky so much I thought we would never break her from it but luckily we did-I think she was 18 months.  As for Chunky Monkey he liked it every once in awhile and by 7 months we quit giving it to him all together because he didn’t need it anymore.

I loved this thing-Evenflo Exersaucer.  This is the exact same one I used with my Monkey but not with SP.  However, they both really loved this toy and so did I because it allowed me to clean and not worry about them getting into anything.

Ok there you go those are some of the things that I really loved and helped me out with each of my kids.  Let me know about some of the items that you couldn’t live without I’m always interested.

The Party’s Over June 23, 2007

[singing] “Some women are drippin’ with diamonds / Some women are drippin’ with pearls / Lucky me, lucky me, look at what I’m drippin’ with / Little girls!” -Annie

Last night I went and stayed with my mom which was a lot of fun except for the fact that her and her boyfriend collect a lot of breakable things and there place is like an art museum-in other words not kid friendly.  And even though I has to keep a very, very, very close eye on Chunky Monkey we still had a good time just hanging out with my mom.  As for Sweet Pea she went home with my sister since she is going to stay with her for the next few days.

On to the party-we had so much fun.  It was at a place called The Incredible Pizza, and everything was indoors which was great because it was hot and humid today.  Between CM and my nephew they threw back quite a few slices of pizza, I mean I thought they were going to burst with how much they were eating and drinking.  Then it was time to sing happy birthday and then the best part-letting him dive into his cake.  OMG!  As soon as Ashly put the cake in front of him he dove in with both hands.  Then after awhile he decided to go ahead and stick his whole face in the cake.  Now I’m not sure what size those little cakes are for their first birthdays but let me tell you this little guy ate half of it, and that also includes the cake and frosting all over his face, hair, ears, arms, oh yeah and up his nose.  And when Ashly decided he had had enough and took it away he started crying because apparently he wasn’t done eating, but quickly remembered all the cake he had all over him and was fine.

After we cleaned the kids up and opened presents we went to the toddler area and pretty much stayed there the whole time since Sweet Pea was the oldest kid there (4).  They had a little jumper for the kids, a train, carousel, and stuff to climb on.  So after much playing we decided that it was time to leave and of cours SP isn’t ready to go because she’s having so much fun.  Well after a good talking to she sat down and put her shoes on (reluctantly), whlie I was talking to my mom and sister about getting everything together.  Then within that minute I realize that SP isn’t there, I look in jumper-nope.  I ask Frank (Ashly’s BF) if she’s with him-no.  Ok you can imagine that in that moment I was in major freaking scary panic mode.  *What doesn’t help is that last night I had a dream that she was kidnapped-it’s my worst fear and big places like that only make it worse.*  Well we all go out in different directions screaming out her name when withing a couple of minutes-which btw seemed an eternity-Ashly found her with some girls playing a dance game.  She gave her to me and I took her straight to the bathroom and asked her why she took off like that and how we had talked about strangers.  I did give her a spanking not hard but enough to get my point across, and then we went back and joined the group.  My mom then told her how scared we all were and she just sat there and cried.  I bent down and told her how much I love her and that I wasn’t mad but that I was so scared that a stranger had taken her.  As I’m telling her this I start crying because the thought of losing her was more than I could bear.  Even now it makes me upset because my kids are my world and I honestly don’t know what I do if anything happened to them.  I told her again how important it is to hold one of our hands and to never run off because if a stranger had taken her she would never see her family again and that they could hurt her.  *I know that’s probably to scary to say to a 4yr. old but how many times do we turn on the t.v. and see that another child has been kidnapped.  Hopefully she now understands the importance of not running away and that not all people are good people.*

Everything is now back to normal and she is with my sister for the next few days-it was hard for me to leave her but I know how excited she was to stay with my sister and Ashly always keeps a close eye on her and will doubly make sure not to take her eyes off her for a second.  As for me I plan on relaxing and watch Dejavu, and pretty much not do anything else since my Monkey is already in bed.  Well good night and hopefully everyone is having a good weekend.

“Chancho. When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room. It’s for fun.”-Nacho Libre

Sorry I never got around to posting yesterday, I was crazy busy all day.  Let’s see the first half of my day consisted of me doing some serious housework-now doesn’t that sound like fun.  Then I had to go to a dr. appt.-my wonderful yearly exam (note sarcasm).  Anyway I thought my appt. was at 3 so I left a little early to run a couple of errands since my mil was watching the kids, well it turned out my appt. wasn’t until 3:50-brain fart I guess.  Now my back to my dun-dun-dunnn appt.  Seriously no matter how many times I’ve gone for a check up and even after having 2 kids I still can’t stand going, what can I say it’s just unpleasant.

Enough about that I’m sure you are all wondering who’s birthday it is-drumroll please.  Today is my nephew’s first birthday!  I can’t believe he’s already one, and you should see what she’s doing his birthday in-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse-very cute.  So I thought I would let y’all know that I will be leaving this afternoon and I won’t be back until sometime tomorrow evening so I probably won’t post anything but I will be sure to tell y’all how everything went.  Hope you all have a great and fun weekend. :)

“It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told.”-Silence of the Lambs

Yeah!!!  I’m so glad that some of y’all knew yesterday’s quote.  I was talking to Ashly while I was blogging and asked her what movie I should use and she said “Silence of the Lambs”  Everytime one of us says this quote to the other we both start laughing-why I don’t know we’re just goofy like that.  David on the other hand thought I would look like a what’s the word Tracy used oh yeah nutjob.  He obviously thought I would come across crazy but I didn’t because I knew one of my bloggy friends would not leave me hanging and knew the quote.

Ok so I spent most of the day yesterday looking up homeschool curriculum.  That’s right I’ve decided to go ahead and homeschool Sweet Pea starting in Aug.  I looked up different websites and I think I’ve found one that I like.  It’s Sonlight and it has a full curriculum which is good for me because I need something that has it all layed out for me.  David and I talked about it and he looked at the curriculum and he like it too.  I will also be using some of the sites that have free printouts for her to color.  I just want to say thank you to all of you who commented about homeschooling a few days ago.  Everything y’all said was very helpful.  Now I just ask that all of you pray for me on this new journey because come Aug. school starts back up for me and plus for patience for me and Sweet Pea.  I want this to be a fun learning experince, and another way for us to bond together.  Again thanks for all your support.

“Hey, man, how did it go in there? …I missed. He heh… what does that mean? I missed! Oh, hell, no!”-Daddy Day Care

Once again my weight has stayed the same-166 lbs.  I’m glad it hasn’t increased but I do wish it would go down some.  However, this past week I worked not once but twice-yeah go me!  LOL!  I rode the bike twice last week and I even did crunches, oh yeah and I did some stretching.  I didn’t work out yesterday but I plan on doing it some time today.  I’m also trying to get Mimi (mil) to work out with me that way I’ll stay motivated and she’s been talking about doing it too.

As for Ashly well she’s kicking butt, she’s exercising at least 3 days a week and has really cut back on what she eats-way to go Ashly!  What’s funny is she has never been a person who worked out or even played any sports growing up.  Now there’s me, I was the one who played sports and worked out all the time.  And now I can’t even really motivate myself-IT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY!  I know I complain about my motivation every week and I’m sorry it’s just aggravating.  I’ll do good for a couple of days and then the next day I won’t feel like it.  Ok hopefully everyone else is doing well.  :)

“I pledge allegiance… to the band… of Mr. Schneebly… and will not fight him… for creative control… and will defer to him on all issues related to the musical direction of the band.”-The School of Rock

Normally I would have Mommy Talk, but on last week’s I kind of combined last week’s and this week’s post all in to one.  But that’s ok since I didn’t blog at all yesterday and today I thought I would give David a Father’s Day shout out.

David, I’m so glad that you had a great Father’s Day.  I know when we first brought Sweet Pea home you and I were dazed and confused about what to do.  But within no time at all we figured things out.  There are so many things that you’ve done that make me laugh and yes I’ve told a few of the poopy stories but they’re funny and it’s what makes you you.  But where I’m most impressed is how much you changed after having our first.  As soon as she was born I saw something change about you.  Within seconds you became a Father, one who is protective, loving, and always there to make the kids laugh.  There are times when I just hang around where you can’t see me just so I can watch you play with them.  Sometimes I wonder which one of y’all is having the most fun-you or the kids.  At first I’ll admit it was a little comical to watch you figure out how to do all the parenting stuff-you know change diapers, feedings, and how you wouldn’t bathe either one until they were at least 3 months old because it made you nervous.  Then our little monkey came around and it was funny because it took you a little while to feel comfortable enough to watch them both at the same time-not that I blame you but it was still funny.  And sure sometimes you give them to many sweets, they stay up a little late and don’t always get a bath when you’re the one putting them to bed but that’s ok but they have a lot of fun staying up late just to play with you.  The kids and I love you very much, and appreciate all the hard work you do so that I can stay home with them-for that I’m very grateful.  We love you very much!  xoxo

“How’s your stomach?  It’s a little better.  [starts pacing] If you’re going to float an air biscuit, let me know, okay? ”-Weird Science

For all of you sahm I have a question.  Sweet Pea is 4 and we won’t be sending her to pre-school because it costs a lot, so my question is do any of you school your children who are home with you at this age?  I have found a lot of websites that you give you great ideas for teaching your toddlers at home and even links to print out pages.

If I do this it does not mean I will be homeschooling her forever because I don’t have to many problems public schools, plus I honestly don’t think I have the patience for it-which is probably why I haven’t had a school atmosphere at home.  But with the way the public school system is if something doesn’t change we may have to cough money for a private school or just teach them at home.  But ultimatetly I think children should go to school and learn how to socially adapt to others.  I guess what I’m wondering is how behind will she be if I don’t have school time here at home.  Hopefully I make sense to all of you-and I will really, really, really appreciate your input on this subject.  Thanks again!
