For the Love of Peas and Monkeys

Dropping a line August 30, 2007

Ok so I’m in my second week of school and I’m really freking out about one of classes-Adv. Topics in U.S. History.  Anyway I don’t know if I mentioned it before but the first exam is over the textbook that is about 300 pgs.  So my question is how exactly do you study an entire textbook for one freaking test.  Yes I have lectures and there are some questions he gives but man this is nuts.  Alright enough ranting hopefully this week I’ll be able to catch up on some blogs.  I miss you guys and hopefully all is going well. :)

It’s Just Another Manic Monday August 27, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day — Jesse @ 8:23 am

First off let me say that this weekend we’ve had major internet problems and they finally got it fixed yesterday.  I was so worried because at first they didn’t know when it would be up and well all of my classes are online-but it’s up and I’m happy.

Now on to the start of my morning; Monkey is running around and decided to take a detour to the bathroom.

David: “umm he has your toothbrush”

Me: “No big deal just take it from him”

David: “Yeah but he was brushing his teeth with it”

Me: “Again David not a big deal”

So after a few minutes I go in there to brush my teeth and I don’t really think twice about it being really wet until afterwards.  Anyways I ask David if he cleaned off my toothbrush and he says “no I just took it from him and put it up.”  I walk back in to the bathroom and see that the toilet lid is up and put two and two together and realize that he stuck my toothbrush in the toilet and I just brushed my teeth with it.  Go ahead and laugh because I did after the nausea passed.  And that my friends is how my morning has started.

So for some more laughs I’ve added this video that David showed me last night and we had a really good laugh-hope y’all enjoy and have a good Monday. :)

Major Workload August 23, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day — Jesse @ 7:38 am

I got back from school yesterday afternoon, and all I can say is whoa!  I took 15 hrs last semester but man this semester is totally going to keep me super busy.  Alot and I mean alot more reading, papers, book reviews, oh and this semester I have to spend 20 hrs observing classrooms.  I’m excited but at the same time very overwhelmed because I want to do well; I’m sure I’ll do fine I just always kind of freak out at the beginning of every semester.  Oh and in one of my history classes I have to do videotape myself doing a character sketch, we’re talking full costume and I have to talk about myself (character) for about 10 min.  I think this is going to be a blast even if I have to do it front of people, oh and the character I choose has to be before 1900, so since I’ll probably choose Pocahontas or Sacagawea, after all I do have the same skin tone.  Anyway we’ll see, but in case I don’t post every day it’s not because I don’t want to talk to y’all it’s just that I’ll probably be super busy with school work. :)

Good Afternoon Everyone!  Today I am on campus doing my course openings and so far the day is going pretty well.  I left early this morning and David is home taking care of the kiddos.  As for how they are doing well when I talked him earlier he said they were fighting-ahhh I’m glad it’s him and not me.  Ok well I do hope that they act better for him but I am welcoming the break even though I really miss them.  I’ll be home tomorrow afternoon after two more openings; the best part is that this is the last time I have to drive up here.  You would think with a distance program you wouldn’t have to come up here every semester, oh well last time until graduation!!  Alright well I’ll talk to y’all tomorrow-have a great day :)

TOTW: Toys August 20, 2007

Filed under: Mommy Talk — Jesse @ 7:38 am

I know I haven’t done a Mommy Talk in a long time but I’ve decided to pick it back up again.  The one sight that would host Mommy Talk is no longer doing it but instead has a link to a forum that has topics of the week-TOTW: Toys - Baby Talkers Forums-this is last weeks topic but I think it’s an interesting one.

toys, toys, toys… how much is too much (same thing with clothes)!?!

What is an appropriate amount of toys for a child to have? Do you find yourself always looking for new toys or the next best thing? Do you go to friends’ houses and see a toy and say to yourself “my kid has to have that”? How much is too much? What are your child’s favorite toys? Are they even REAL toys??

I can’t say what I think is an appropriate amount of toys because I don’t think it matters how much or little my kids have it would be scattered all over the floor.  But at the same time I don’t think it’s necessary to go out and buy every single hot new toy that comes out because really it all that stuff would get to be to much.  Oooo I just thought of a toy that we have WAY, WAY, to much of and I’ve told family to not buy anymore-STUFFED ANIMALS.  Seriously folks the amount of stuffed animals we have is a bit ridiculous.  Most of them are Sweet Peas and Monkey has a few but not nearly as many.  Anyways I have them tied to a rope hanging from the ceiling-I’ll post a pic soon-which thankfully has kept them off the floor.  As for the ones that wouldn’t fit on the rope I decided if they were worthy enough to keep and if not then off to the goodwill.

Which brings up another thing how often do you go thru toys.  As for me I go thru when I can’t stand all the little messes everywhere; which is about every few months.  Most of the toys that throw out are the McDonald’s toys, because really they aren’t toys.  David doesn’t like the idea of giving their toys away because of space issues so instead I box the good ones up like all the infant toys; you know just in case ;)  But for big stuff we haven’t done anything with them because just when I think they don’t play with it I’ll see them dragging it out and having a good time.  Now I do realize in a couple of years Sweet Pea could grow out of playing with her Dora Castle and then I’ll have to decide what to do but until then I guess I won’t worry about it.  And Monkey just plays with whatever but makes the biggest mess out of all the Little People stuff.

Alright I know my answer wasn’t profound or really even helpful so you can imagine the mess I have pick up every day.  But what about you moms and dads out there-any tips of what you do, or when you think enough is enough.

Yesterday as I was making my daily rounds I saw that Melanie at Queen of a Disney Castle gave me an award-it’s the nice award.  This is what The Nice Matters Award is given for, “This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world. Once you’ve been awarded please pass it on to 7 others who you feel are deserving of this award.”

So I give this award to all the ladies on my blogroll, because they are very deserving.  Each of them are nice, sweet, and wickedly funny-hope y’all have an awesome weekend! :)

Change in classes August 16, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day — Jesse @ 10:22 am

I have been crazy busy these past couple of days; I’m trying to make sure everything is in order for me before I start back up in school.  Ok well everything was in order until I decided that I wanted to work on getting a teaching certificate.  I’ve already accumulated too many hours to go and change my major and I’m not willing to to basically start all over.  Sooo I’m changing up my major just a little bit and the classes I’m hoping to take starting this semester are the requirements for me to go on and work on a Masters after I receive my bachelor’s.  At first I never thought of working on a masters at least not anytime soon but now I know it’s what I want to do and by the time I’m done with everything Monkey will be really close to starting Kindergarten.  Alright well I’m off to catch up on some blogs-have a great day!

The Meteor Shower August 13, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day — Jesse @ 8:24 am

So did any of you go out and watch the meteor shower last night?  David and I did and it was awesome.  Since we live out in the country the sky is always clear so we layed a blanket out and watched them shoot by.  I’ve never sat outside to watch one so last night was my first time, it was so cool and it made me think about when I was younger how I wanted to go up in space and be an astronaut.  Oh and then all of a sudden we hear this helicopter coming toward us and you know it was right over us and we couldn’t see it at all-I’m talking no lights no shape-nothing.  It was kind of weird but I’m sure it was some kind of military thing.  As for our weekend it wasn’t to bad we pretty much stayed inside since it was up in the 100’s and the heat index was in the 110’s-to freaking hot.  Anyway I hope you all had a good weekend.
