I think I found something better. January 16, 2008

FYI–I actually hit the gym today and I plan on going again tomorrow.  I’m bound and determined that this is year I finally get serious and loose some weight and definitely some inches.

So after working out I headed up to the mall to check out the purse I wanted and I wasn’t as impressed as I was seeing it on the computer.  It was cute but it didn’t look like it did on the computer; I don’t know how to explain it it just looked different.  The next time you go to the mall swing by the purses and you’ll see what I mean.  On the other hand I did manage to find a purse that I really like.  Coach-Chelsea Signature Large Hobo $298.  For a better and bigger look at this purse click here http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=9683&category_id=581

Again this time last year I really wanted to splurge for my birthday and buy an expensive purse but just couldn’t bring myself to spend the money.  However, when I saw this purse and saw how roomy it is I fell in love with it and it’s only about $15 more.  Can you tell I’m trying to justify getting an expensive purse–does anyone else have an expensive purse?  If you do was it worth the price?

A Little Bit of This and That January 14, 2008

Filed under: A Little Indulgence, Just Another Day — Jesse @ 9:35 pm

I know I’ve been away the past couple of days but I’ve been doing school stuff.  Oh and David was out-of-town for work all day Saturday and came home Sunday night.  So that meant that today I got nothing done.  Ok strike that I did manage to go to the gym and lift some weights-go me.  I can’t tell you that last time I worked out and when it showed when I stepped on the scale and it said 162 lbs-grrr.  I have no one to blame but myself for all the delicious cookies and deserts I shoved in my mouth.  And I had to go to the store because my poor little Monkey has a diaper rash and what I had wasn’t working so I bought the best diaper cream ever-Bordeaux Butt Paste-yes I know funny name but man does this stuff work.  Since he’s on a stronger antibiotic it’s caused him a tummy ache which it said could happen and now he has a diaper rash, and I feel terrible everytime I have to change him.

Other than than a two loads of laundry that’s all I did because David decided that he needed the computer today.  And not to complain but I will today everytime I asked him to do something I had to ask like 3 freaking times.  He was like zoned out or probably purposely zoning me out today-quite aggravating.  Off rant-he had to go out-of-town again and won’t be home until late tomorrow night and yes I do miss him when he’s gone.

Alright just one last thing; I’ve been contemplating on buying a new purse and of course David doesn’t understand why I need another purse-men-they don’t get it.  So I think I’ve decided what purse I would like for my birthday.  Yes you read that correctly my birthday is coming up very, very soon-January 27 to be exact if you would like to send cards or gifts please email me and I will be sure to give you my address-insert sarcasm.  Seriously I would never expect any of you to do just make sure to drop me a line that day and that will make me very happy.

Oh yeah the purse-sorry add moment-here is a picture.  It’s the Medium Chiara Bag either in the color black or coffee ($285).  Let me know what you think.

Oh and here’s another one it’s called Crossword East/West Bucket ($235).  Please don’t think I own name brand purses because I don’t I usually go to Payless, but I really want a new purse and I really like Dooney so let me know what y’all think and remember this would be my birthday gift.  Ok hope y’all have a great day and remember I’ll be looking for your comments.

Christmas Meme December 10, 2007

Filed under: A Little Indulgence, Totally Random — Jesse @ 8:57 am

Thanks to Tracy over at Rambling Thoughts she posted this really fun Christmas meme.  So for any of you who want to do this please do and let me know when you have it up so I can come over and check it out.

  1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?  I do wrapping paper, I love wrapping gifts even though I can’t do any of that fancy stuff.  As for gift bags I rarely do that.
  2.  Real Tree or artificial?  Growing up we always had a real tree-that was until high school.  Anyway I really liked it and have been using an artificial tree.  I love how you can adjust the branches especially for some of the heavier ornaments.
  3. When do you put up the tree?  Usually right after Thanksgiving but not this year it was right before-I know crazy.

  4. When do you take it down?  Pretty much after New Years Day.
  5. Do you like eggnog?  Yuck!  Not a big fan.
  6. Favorite gift received as a child?  Probably when I got my barbie townhouse; I loved that house.
  7. Do you have a Nativity scene?  Can you believe that I don’t have one, and I love Nativity scenes.  I think after Christmas I’m going to try and find one I really like.
  8. Who is the hardest person to buy for?  I think my mom, she says she likes anything we get her because it’s the thought but you know how that goes.  She never complains but I always wonder if she really likes what we get her.
  9. Easiest person to buy for?  David hands down; it’s always the same DVD’s or CD’s.  He gives me a list of the ones he wants and then I go and pick them out.
  10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?  It was from my step-grandmother; it was cheapest Avon make-up you could buy.  It was a palette and the colors were what a clown would wear-seriously-orange, pink, oh man just thinking about it makes me cringe.  I remember taking one look and then looking at my dad and step-mom and trying to be nice about it.
  11. Mail or email Christmas cards?  Mail, but I haven’t sent any out this year.
  12. Favorite Christmas movie?  Ok this is hard because I have a few, I love the claymation of Rudolf-classic, and my other faves are Christmas Vacation and Elf.
  13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?  I start around the first of November.
  14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas gift? No.
  15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?  Any kind of sweet-cookies, cakes, pies-I looooove desserts.
  16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?  Colored
  17. Favorite Christmas song?  Jingle Bell Rock
  18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?  Travel-you have to visit your family.
  19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?  Yes-Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Doner, Blitzen, and Rudolph.
  20. Angel or Star on top of the tree? Neither it’s Santa
  21. Open the presents Christmas eve or Christmas morning? Always Christmas morning that’s what makes it so much fun.
  22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Probably the people who are out Christmas shopping and they are all like jerks.
  23. What is the corniest family tradition you do or miss doing?  You know I don’t think anything we ever did was corny but I miss my dad coming telling my sister and I that we had to hurry up and get to sleep because Santa was really close.  You know “He’s in Louisiana and his next stop is Texas so you better get to sleep.”
  24. What is the worst thing you’ve seen related to Christmas? I don’t know off the top of my head but there’s always something.
  25. Which looks best, themed trees or homey trees?  I honestly like both types but as for our tree it’s what some call the kid tree because it has all kinds of ornaments on it and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
  26. Gingerbread or sugar cookies?  I’ll take any kind of sweets.
  27. Do you like fruit cake?  Umm no it’s gross and who out there really likes that anyway.

A day at the beach August 3, 2007

“Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.”

I had a great day yesterday-my mil, her sister, and her mom and I went to the beach for the whole day.  But the best part was that I didn’t have any kids with me.  David said he didn’t mind watching the kids so I could get a break and just relax-how sweet.  First we went to Pappasitos for lunch-omg there fajitas are the best, then we drove to the beach.  And let me tell you what I did-absolutely nothing-I brought my mp3 and a good book and just layed on the beach doing that.  It was great, but when we left the house I felt guilty and especially when we got there because I knew Sweet Pea would have had so much fun playing.  So would have the Chunky Monkey but I would have spent the whole time chasing him that it wouldn’t have been much fun for anyone.  But really I just needed a day to myself without chasing any kids and just having some time for me.  After awhile we cleaned up and walked on the strand and then at a place called The Spot-umm wasn’t really impressed-I would have taken Sonic over it.  And then by the time we got home it was about 10:30 p.m. and everyone was asleep-including David.  Oh and did I mention that the living room was a mess; I’m talking toys everywhere and all the cushions off the couch-nice.  So this morning I asked him how his day went and he said for the most part the kids were ok.  And as you can imagine I’ve spent the morning cleaning up a bit, but as you can imagine the kids have already made their mess so really what’s the point.  Today I’m just going to take it easy because I still feel like I’m in lazy beach mode.

“How could I forget about you? You’re the only person I know.”

“I’m not fat. It’s all this hair. It makes me look poofy.  Fine. You have fat hair, but when you’re ready to talk, I’m here.”-Ice Age

Well I’ve finally finished the book last night and man was it freaking amazing!  I honestly really loved the book and it was very much worth the wait, and now I can’t wait for movie 6 and 7 to come out.  Here I thought everything had been answered until I started writing and I am left with one question that isn’t important but I’m curious.  I had read that Rowling would mention someone who would acquire magic late in life which was very rare.  Ok so who exactly was it?  And don’t think I haven’t serch the net either it seems that there are many people wondering the same thing.  I mean did I miss something or did she just decide not to put it in.  Again I don’t really think it’s a big deal but I was wondering.

Ok back to the book-right from the beginning I knew it was going to be good and I was sad to read of Moody’s death right in the beginning, and of course all the others throughout the course of the book.  But seriously we all knew some were going to die just not exactly sure of who.  And I was sad about Snape; of course after knowing that he was loyal to the end to Dumbledore.  Which I’m glad.  I didn’t really think he was evil but she sure did have us thinking he was until the end.  I mean if he was then Dumbledore wasn’t as smart as we all thought he was.  But in the end he proves that he was always loyal and wasn’t it just sad how he asked Potter to look at him-I honestly didn’t pick up how much he really loved Lily until then.   Speaking of people who have redeemed themselves what about Percy Weasley.  I was sooo glad that he finally came to his senses because really from the beginning he’s been acting like a pompus jerk.

And the fighting scenes toward the end where awesome-I definetly can’t wait to see it in the movie.  I loved how they all came together and fought especially someone like Professor McGonagall.  Oooo who can forget Mrs. Weasley “NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!”-classic.  Perfect example of why you should never mess with a mother’s children-we’re crazy and we’ll come at you with everything we’ve got and then some.

I don’t think I said it earlier but I was really sad when Fred Weasley died, I really liked his character and what poor George.  And then Lupin and Tonks-the little baby left behind but very cool that Harry is the Godfather.  I’ve read that many people were disappointed about the epilogue but really what does everyone expect-it’s not meant to be another novel just a look at how they end up.

Let me just say that I’ve really enjoyed the series and I don’t feel that I’ve been let down.  I am sad that now my favorite book is over and she says she won’t write about anymore.  I hope she changes her mind and decides to write about the kids or something.  What can I say I’m a dork and I can’t help but want more.  What about y’all?  Tell me what you thought about the book and what you hoped for.  I know you’re out there so please don’t leave me hanging give me some of your thoughts. :)

“Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.”

”There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it…”-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Well I finally went and saw the movie last night and it was wicked cool!  I absolutely loved it and I was not disappointed.  And yes Harry Potter is an indulgence for me which is why it’s in that category.  I love, love, love Harry Potter.  Ok back to the movie, yes there were a couple of things missing from the book but lets be sensible here the movie would be like 4 hrs. long if they tried to put everything in it.  There is however a change on who told Umbridge about the D.A. in the book it wasn’t Cho-I think it was her friend.  But really all in all I loved the movie.  Oh and I thought the girl who played Luna Lovegood was perfect; she was just as spacey in the book as in the movie.

I just know when the next movie comes out-The Half Blood Prince it’s going to be just as good if not better.  Because really the next movie is just going to be awesome with everything that’s going on.  And no I won’t ruin anything for those of you who have not read the book even though I’m dying to tell y’all what I can’t wait to see happen.

But my real excitement is waiting for the last book, and you better believe I have it pre-ordered and I will probably not put it down because really the suspense is killing me.  And before anyone says anything yes I know I’m a dork when it comes to Harry Potter and that’s ok.  I have my own thoughts on the last book, like I don’t think Harry will die in the end, his Aunt Petunia will able to do magic, *STOP READING I’M ABOUT TO SPOIL THE END FOR OOTP*, and is Sirius Black really dead.  There are a few other ones but I’m not going to say anything else so as not to spoil it for the rest of you.

My New Look June 14, 2007

“If I’m not back in five minutes… just wait longer.”

“Listen! Do you smell something?”-Ghostbusters

I don’t know about any of you but there are times when I get bored with how my hair looks.  And since I’ve had my hair the same length for a while I decided to cut it.  Oh and I also decided to get some cute but funky highlights-afterall a few months ago I did dye my hair purple so I’m always up for just about anything.  And the purple looked really cool and Sweet Pea loved it but that’s because purple is her favorite color.  I got my hair done Monday and sorry that it took me a few days to post but I didn’t want my mom or sister to see this because I want to surprise them for my nephew’s birthday party.  But just yesterday my mom said she lost my blog address to I’ll go ahead and post the pics then give her the info. she needs later.

Here is what I looked like before:

And here is what I look like now:

So now that I’ve shown you I want to know what y’all think because yes your opinions matter to me.  This is what she did she redyed my hair pretty much black (it will lighten but it looks black).  Then she did chunks of blonde and burgandy.  The burgandy doesn’t show to well in the picture but in better lighting you can tell.

Beauty Junkie May 3, 2007

Filed under: A Little Indulgence, Just Another Day — Jesse @ 9:04 am

I’m not really sure what has gotten in to me but lately I’ve been trying to put more of an effort in taking care of myself.  Ok it’s probably because I’m tired of feeling lazy and well I notice when I do little things for myself I tend to feel better about myself.  With that being said I’ve been trying to remember to do my little beauty ritual every morning and night.  Not only that but I consider myself a beauty junkie; I buy different products and try new stuff because well I can’t help myself.  As for what I use well it’s a variety of stuff, so I guess I’m a beauty junkie.  Lets see I use Mary Kay, Oil of Olay, Biore, Victoria’s Secret, Cover Girl, Avon, Aussie, Rave, and I’ve went as far as buying my own wax kit to wax my eyebrows.  The first time I used that kit I was scared to death that I would end up with no eyebrows, but I’ve been lucky and have done a pretty good job.  Oh and it saves me money from having to go and get it done, but it is a little messy.  So what about you, are there products that you just can’t live without, or some that you have been faithful to, or are you like me and try all kinds of stuff.  I’m curious because I love trying out new stuff, and yes I’ve been suckered more than once buying Clinique (I love their stuff) just so I can get the gift, ooo and I also like Origins.  See what I mean, sometimes I just go on binges on beauty stuff.

Soap Addict May 1, 2007

Filed under: A Little Indulgence — Jesse @ 9:20 am

I have my Grandmother to thank for my addiction to The Young and the Restless.  For as long as I can remember I have been watching this soap, and I’m not the only one hooked on it-my sister loves this soap too.  What can I say other than her I watch this soap everyday and then we call each other and talk about what happened.  I know we’re dorks and David is always asking me why we don’t talk about the real world.  Well you know what sometimes it’s nice to have a little escape from poopy diapers and chasing your little ones around.

Now my ahem devotion to this show does not end with watching this show everyday; I also look up spoilers on the internet.  Yes, yes, yes, I know I have a problem-and so does my sister because she wants to know the spoilers too.  Seriously what is one hour out of my day from taking care of kids and cleaning-not much.

I don’t really think I’m the only out here who watches any type of soap, I know there are plenty of you out there who secretly loves at least one soap as much as me and my sister do.  And if not then that’s cool too; oh just to let you know we don’t sit and eat bon-bon’s while we watch Y&R.

The Wall April 25, 2007

Filed under: A Little Indulgence — Jesse @ 8:29 am

Let me first say that I love movies and I love just about every genre of movies.  David on the other hand is obsessed with movies.  He has a calendar with the dates of when his favorite movies are coming out, you know every Tuesday is when they release them.  Sometimes I’m surprised that he doesn’t stalk the trucks at Best Buy.  So what’s the point to my story–The Wall Yes this is THE WALL!  The first six rows are filled with dvd’s and the last two are filled with cd’s.  And this isn’t all of the dvd’s because we have another cabinet with about 30 kid movies.  Anyways the reason I’m bringing this up is because last night David came home with two movies, because you know Best Buy was having a sale that he just couldn’t help himself.  He bought Night At The Museum and The Royal Tenenbaums (The Criterion Collection).  Yes I know many of you could care less what kind of collection it is but he does.

Now I thought I was bad about having to buy something but David takes the cake on not being able to control spending urges.  Since having kids I’ve been able to control how much and often I buy things.  David on the other hand has greatly improved but he still can’t resist a sale.

Oh now don’t think his obsession stops at dvd’s but that is only half of what he like to “collect.”  His other “hobby” is buying cd’s, and not just any regular cd but movie scores.  Ok so remember the last two rows on the wall, here is the other bookcase , these are all movie scores.  He also has a big box full of scores that he is selling so he can buy the expensive and rare ones.  But I can’t get mad at him because I knew about this obsession when we first got together, however, there are times when it drives me crazy.  Sometimes he acts like it’s the end of the world when he can’t buy something.  Oh and for his birthday, and holidays can you guess what he wants-yep that’s right movies or cd’s, and if you’re not sure which ones he wants then he’ll gladly accept cash so he can go and buy them.

Alright I think I’ve ranted enough about the wall, soon I’ll probably post my favorite movies so y’all can get to know me better.  Thanks for hanging in there with me through this post.  Have a great day because it’s Hump Day.
