On Sunday morning our Pastor played a very interesting video, of course that was when I had to get up so I missed it.  However David said it was really good and found it on youtube.  Anyway I thought I would post it and see what y’all thought about it.

I See You March 12, 2008

Filed under: Totally Random — Jesse @ 10:49 pm

I received some interesting mail today.  I don’t know about where you live but a few months ago at major intersections they installed cameras to enforce red light safety.  And can you guess who violated this safety rule–yes that’s right me.  It seems that last Tuesday I was caught on camera going through a red light.  Now please before any of you out there jump down my throat this is not a normal thing I do and to be honest I don’t recall doing that.  What I do recall is trying to shop for Easter outfits and Monkey not being very cooperative; I know that no excuse.  Just to make sure that it was me I had to go back to the calendar and sure enough I was the one who had the car that day, crap now I have to tell David.  Well surprisingly enough he wasn’t mad but did tell me to be more careful.  Oh and to make it worse you can go on the website and watch the video and you know what I never slowed down!  I still can’t believe it and yes I’m mad at myself.  I know what was going thru my mind “must hurry home before I lose my mind” because from what I do remember is Monkey throwing a fit and Sweet Pea yelling at him to be quiet.  Oh and the price of this ticket is $75.

Before I go for any of you that are reading this and plan on leaving me some type of rude comment-don’t.  I’m not a reckless person nor am I perfect and it just so happens that I made a mistake.   Anyway hopefully everyone is having a good week.

Beowulf February 28, 2008

Filed under: Totally Random — Jesse @ 3:54 pm

Alright so last night David and I finally watched Beowulf, and it wasn’t at all what I had expected.  I did know that it would be all done in CGI and I thought that it looked pretty cool, however, I didn’t know that it wouldn’t follow the poem.  I remember reading this poem a long time ago and it was never one of my favorites-I thought it was a little boring.  Anyway while watching the movie I started thinking this is not how I remember the poem being, so of course after the movie I went and googled Beowulf and sure enough I was right.  The movie wasn’t really like the poem at all, I mean sure they had followed some of the stuff but overall they changed quite a bit.  Well David liked it but couldn’t see why I bothered me so much since I didn’t really like the poem all that much.  All I can say is that I’m one of those people that when you read something and they then make a movie it should pretty much follow the storyline.  I mean what would you think if you were watching Romeo and Juliet and in the end they are both alive and live happily ever after–sure it would be nice but that’s not how the story goes and I would hate it.  Oh and speaking of Romeo and Juliet I didn’t like the remake of it with Claire Danes and Leo DiCaprio.

This and That February 15, 2008

Hopefully all of y’all had a great Valentine’s Day.  As for me it was pretty good; David was off and I was able to take care of some errands.  He then topped off the day by making dinner-which was nice.  Other than that all it well.  Ok I take that back because right now Monkey is acting like a major brat-he’s throwing a tantrum for reasons unknown to me.  And frankly this isn’t how I like to start off my morning.

On to some better news I’m looking forward to Sunday because that’s when I go to visit my mom and sister for a few days.  I’m only taking Monkey although at this point he may stay home.  Anyway I’m only taking him because they haven’t really had one-on-one time with him which means David and Sweet Pea will be hanging out and having fun.  Again we’ll see how the next couple of days go because I may end up going by myself.

Ni-Hao (Hi) February 13, 2008

Filed under: Totally Random — Jesse @ 8:46 am

I don’t know if any of your kids watch Nick Jr. but last week a new show started called Ni-Hao Kai-Lan.  The animals in the show remind of Hello Kitty.  Anyway the show is kind of like Dora and Diego–it weaves in English and Chinese, and teaches about her culture, oh and they have fun and little adventures.  Anyway Sweet Pea really likes it and I think the show is very cute, especially the animals.

Now I have read a couple of blogs that don’t agree with the show.  Like some of the values it teaches.  Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the show and I think in the society we live in now it’s important to teach our children to be accepting of others who are different from them-at least that’s what I think.  I know the values list being in harmony but as a Christian we are taught to be accepting of others and no we don’t use the words “harmony.”  I just think it’s important for my children to grow up and accept others for who they are despite their cultural background, or the fact that they may speak another language.  So for those of you who have watched the show what is your opinion about it.

Here is the list of values the show teaches:

Mind-body connection Typically, television portrays excitement as the good emotion to feel. In many Chinese-American communities, the good thing to feel is often calmness and contentment. Feeling excited and feeling calm can both be happy feelings, but they differ in how aroused the body is.

Perspective-taking In many Chinese and other East Asian families, children are encouraged to take the perspective of others to maintain harmony in relationships with other people.

Being a good member of the group Ni Hao, Kai-lan also emphasizes the Chinese and Chinese American value of being a good member of a group.

Social & Emotional GoalsHighlight cause-and-effect thinking about social and emotional issues germane to preschoolers and to support preschooler’s social and emotional development.

Ok I don’t know about any of you but I happen to suffer oily skin and hair.  Unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with perfect skin or hair but hey you work with what you got.  I’m the type of person who has to wash their hair everyday and if I don’t well then it just looks gross.

On to my BIG problem:  Yesterday I noticed after I washed my hair and blow-dried it that at the top of my scalp my hair looked oily and felt weird (kind of like dried hair gel).  Ok I chalked it up to maybe I didn’t have enough shampoo in my hair.  Today-I washed my hair twice got out toweled off put on lotion then proceeded to dry my hair.  Well wouldn’t you know it look EXACTLY like it did yesterday-ahhhhhhhh!  Now I’m thinking maybe it’s because I first put lotion on and some of it got in my hair to make it weird.  So what do you think I did.  If you said washed my hair again then ding, ding, ding, you were absolutely correct.  And can any of you guess how my hair looked after blow drying it AGAIN–IT LOOKED FREAKING OILY!!!

Now as many of you can guess I’m a little annoyed at this point; I have never had this problem before and now all of a sudden it’s been out of control for the past couple of days.  I did do a little research and saw that I could dye or highlight my hair because it’ll dry out your hair.  Ok I can do that, I can go buy a bottle of hair dye if it’ll work.  But my question is what really works, what types of shampoo are good for oily hair.  I’m desperate and I can’t stand the way my hair is looking so it’s up to you bloggy world to help a sister out.

So a couple of days ago Tracy tagged me for a meme and she’s right since I love doing them she knew I would do this one so here it goes.

5 Random/Weird Things About Me

  1. I tend to be a bit compulsive about things like making sure the door is locked; I’ve gotten better I only check twice and not all the time.  But when I don’t it drives me crazy wondering.
  2. After the first season of Survivor I stood in line for 2 hrs to audition-and no I didn’t get called back.  I was a little upset.
  3. I’m scaredno make that absolutely petrified of roaches, especially the ones that are freaking humongous and fly.  Ok just thinking about it drives me crazy.
  4. I would love to be an actress but even if I couldn’t walk the red carpet I could settle for a permanent role on The Young and The Restless.
  5. I don’t really find this last one weird or random but some might.  I have 2 kids and I really want one more and then a few years after that I want to adopt a child from a foreign country.

5 Places I Want to See or See Again

  1. Italy-there is something about that country.
  2. Alaska-I hear it’s gorgeous and I would love to take a cruise there.
  3. Disney World-I haven’t been there since I was 10 so I think I’m way passed due.
  4. Europe-I would love to go on an extensive vacation I’m talking 3 months.
  5. Montana-wouldn’t it just be cool to lay out under that beautiful sky and stay in a log cabin enjoying peace and beauty.

Now I know I’m supposed to tag 5 people but I’m not going to.  So if you want to do this let me know so I can see what you posted. :)

O Christmas Tree…Your Leaves Are So Enchanting December 17, 2007

Filed under: Just Another Day, Totally Random — Jesse @ 8:07 am

7 Days Until Christmas!

Sorry I’ve been gone a couple of days but I’m back and with some pictures (can you guess) of my tree.  Now in the Christmas meme I did it asked what kind of tree do I do and mine is what some would call the kiddy tree.  On my tree I have ornaments that my mom gave me that were mine growing up and of course every year I buy a new ornament or two for the kids.

s5030570.jpgAnd here is our Christmas tree, now I know it’s not loaded down with tons of ornaments and there are two reasons… 1. I just knew my Monkey would get into every single one and he has, 2. I got tired of dragging out all the ornaments.  But hey it’s up and I love looking at it and so do the kids.

Now here is my mil’s tree, it’s themed and it’s very beautiful; see     s5030572.jpg

Her colors are ivory and gold, but she’s thinking of changing it for next year, or maybe adding burgundy to add a little more color.  But in case you’re wondering when the kids were growing up she had a kid tree but when as they got older she started collecting new ornaments to have a themed tree.

Ok so here’s my question do you think it’s more personal to have the “kid” tree or themed tree and which do you prefer.  Also when your kids become older do you think you will keep your kid tree or do something totally different.

Here is my answer-I love both kind of trees but I love the kid tree because for me I have ornaments from when I was growing up and all the memories come flooding back to me.  Also now that I have kids of my own every year I get ornaments that mean something to them.  Like one year it was care bears and another it was spongebob; but what I really can’t wait for are when they make ornaments and gifts at school like I did.  So I guess when they are grown I will still have the kiddy tree filled with multi-color lights and packages wrapped in any kind of paper of my choosing.  But with that being said I may buy a 4 ft. tree and have it themed but who knows.  Or I could do what my mil does-she had a kid tree in the veranda and then her main themed tree in the living room-but man that’s a lot of work.  Anyway let me know what you think and if you still have some shopping to do because there is only 7 days until Christmas.
